Episode 14 |A Different Look at Teacher Seller Self-Care

Don’t get me wrong–taking care of ourselves is the most important thing we can do in life. But when we are surrounded by trends and buzzwords, we can often misconstrue the message. In this episode, I share about the unique spin on self-care in the teacher seller world.

Don’t get me wrong: taking care of yourself is important

Self-care is crucial, especially in the teacher seller world. We balance so many things, wear numerous hats, and put a lot of pressure on ourselves.

What Kobe Bryant taught us about hard work

Because of 4 AM

I’ve often shared this story of Kobe Bryant, in which he teaches us the value of working our asses off to be the best we can. I am not encouraging teacher sellers to wake up at 4 AM to work tirelessly on their businesses, but what I am saying is that if you want to put in the work to build a business you truly enjoy and feel strongly about, then do it.

Respect your seasons

Not every season of life will be conducive to working your butt off. There will be many times in your life when you simply don’t have the bandwidth to put your all into your business–and that is okay. But when you do find yourself with that fire lit to put hours of sweat and tears into your business–that is okay too.

The bottom line

Self-care doesn’t mean eschewing hard work. Hard work can be self-care if it makes you feel good and it’s what you want to do. Don’t sacrifice your health or your family for your business. But–when the desire to work hard is there, by all means–enjoy it and follow that.

You’re not doing the wrong thing by choosing work over relaxation. You are simply going after what you want and you are working because you want to. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
