Being a mom comes with an endless list of emotions and responsibilities. Running a business comes with its own set of tasks and obligations. Being a mom and a business owner? Yikes. In this episode, I talk about important mindsets for teacher seller moms to adopt in order to maintain a healthy attitude and also run a successful business.
My journey as a seller mom
Having kids while running a business is not for the faint of heart. I’ve built my business as a pregnant mom, a mom on maternity leave, a full-time teacher mom, a stay-at-home mom–you name it. Every stage presented its own challenges, and it was never easy.
Teacher seller moms and our struggles
Stop being hard on yourself
Mom guilt is real, and it’s hard to overcome. When we try to run a business on top of being a mom, the guilt is compounded. We feel as though we never have enough time to be a mom or a businessperson.
Keep being you
When children enter our lives, our identity changes forever. That doesn’t mean you have to stop doing the things that light you up–like your business, for example. It’s more important now than ever to stay with the things you enjoy doing that bring you joy and make you YOU.
We are who our kids were meant to have
While it’s natural to feel guilty while we take time away from family to work on our business, it’s also important to remember that we are setting an amazing example for our kids. Next time you feel that nagging I-should-be-doing-something-else feeling, remember this:
- You are showing your kids what it looks like to work hard
- You are setting an incredible example of a powerful female business owner
- You are demonstrating a great work ethic
